"Not every time," Astoria argued although she knew he was absolutely right. She enjoyed winning and she enjoyed it even more when Cormac admitted that she'd won. "Besides, you already told me I'm fine the way I am," she teased. "That includes my annoying tendency to be right. All the time."
Astoria pouted. "That's not very nice." Really, she still thought he had to much luck. "Yes they can. I was adorable." And spoiled. She was still spoiled and she wasn't ashamed of it. "I didn't know you, but I can just imagine it. Little Cormac and Falcy," she said, grinning. She was convinced that he'd been adorable. "Oh no, you're none of those. You're very… manly." Astoria laughed. She knew there were many other words he'd probably want to hear but she'd never make it that easy for him. "I'm not sure it counts. I used to think my ex was romantic but that was just clouded judgment. I'm older and wiser now," she said in amusement. Maybe she was being cynical, but Astoria didn't really believe in romance. At least no on the surface. She wanted it, craved it but it was one of those things she didn't think she'd ever get. She regretted pulling away almost immediately. She'd done it out of insecurity even though she knew he was teasing. Astoria laughed, despite her negative thoughts. "Haven't I been telling you that for ages? You just choose not to believe me." She smirked up at him. "Poor Cormac," she said teasingly before moving closer to him again, forgetting the apprehension she'd felt only a few second ago. "Oh, do tell." He probably wouldn't but it was always worth a try. "Several volumes, actually," Astoria replied with a grin.
Astoria was surprised when he picked her up. Her arms tightened around his neck and she prayed he didn't drop her. But he made it to the armchair and back without incident. "Better." She smiled and gave him a quick, soft kiss once they were both settled. The blanket was warm and soft and she was beginning to think she was in danger of falling asleep. Then again, his presence always seemed to be enough to keep her attention. She wondered briefly how he could argue he wasn't sweet or thoughtful when she considered what he'd just done at least one of those.
