Astoria shrugged. She didn't want to admit that she didn't want to be right this time around. "Maybe I will," she replied noncommittally. She smiled at Cormac and shook her head, trying to distract herself from those thoughts. "There's nothing wrong with striving for the best." She shrugged. In some ways, she could understand it but Astoria did believe in choosing her battles. She didn't have to win every single things, as long as she won the war. Besides, with Cormac it actually amused her.
She returned his smile, actually glad that they were in agreement. She didn't know what it meant, the fact that he wanted to stay, and she wasn't sure she wanted to figure it out. "Careful, the world might be ending," she teased, just as she'd done many times before. Her mind kept telling her that it wasn't a good idea to question things, not now. It would ruin the things that were already on the verge of being complicated.
Sitting there that way with Cormac was surprisingly relaxing, especially now that there was tension between them. Astoria smiled at this question. "No, it wouldn't be." She considered it a valid answer and she was surprised that she'd even gotten that. "Sounds like you know a little more than something." Despite herself, she was a little impressed that he'd gotten that much out of it. It wasn't that she thought he was dumb or incapable but she found that most people didn't bother unless they were actually interested in art. She could see exactly what he'd described in the painting, feel it and that also caught her by surprise. "And for the record, you don't have to be an artist to understand art. I'm certainly not but I love it nonetheless." She really did think that Cormac understood it on some level, if he was able to discuss it the way he had. Maybe not on a technical level like she did, but Astoria spent a lot more time at museums and reading about art than most. Astoria laughed when he said it was just another painting. She'd almost forgotten that question after his little analysis. "Well, I'm glad you think it's a nice painting. I'll take that as confirmation of my impeccable tastes," Astoria teased, turning her face to press against his neck for a moment in an attempt to hide her grin, even if he couldn't see it with the way they were sitting anyway. Maybe she just liked getting as close to him as she could.
