Summary: Cameron finishes up some pieces in his shop while thinking about his plans for the up coming weekend
Status: Incomplete
The heat in the back of Cameron's shop was nearing 34 degrees Celsius, sweat trickling down his back as he opened the furnace door, checking on the molten glass that lay inside. It was close to four which meant that Cam was beginning to straighten up and prepare to wrap up his projects for the evening. He liked to finish his business during the day which left the night open for him to experiment on his own pieces. He preferred to keep himself busy as it kept his mind away from focusing on troubling thoughts. So every evening after he closed up the shop, he'd stoke the fires and begin letting whatever was in his head create itself in glass and metal.
When that wasn't enough, Cam liked to distract himself in other ways. The pubs and night clubs provided just the perfect atmosphere to lose himself and his thoughts. But, that was reserved for weekends when a hang over wouldn't cost him a days work. Tonight, he was mostly looking forward to experimenting with the new colored silicon fragments he had received in his last supply shipment. There were some purples and greens that struck his fancy and he wanted to see how they'd look once melted into his glass.
He reached over to the temperature gauge and tapped it, seeing the needle begin to fall. He frowned, knowing that his wood supply was low and he'd most likely only have enough to keep the furnaces lit for the next few days. It was then that the errant thought crossed his mind to use a bit of magic to stretch out his supply but that was only in the most dire cases. He'd hold off on magically altering his flame until he was desperate. Until then, he'd only keep the furnace warm enough to keep the glass inside from shattering. It was the best he could do if he didn't want to risk being caught for what he was - and he didn't, not ever.
Closing up the door to his furnace, Cameron grabbed a towel to wipe his forehead before heading out to the store front. He did try to keep up appearances if only for his customers. Over the years he discovered that he sold more pieces if he only showed just enough skin and perspiration to be considered rugged, not sloppy. He didn't mind, money was money and he had bills to pay and furnaces to heat. Whatever worked was fine by him.
