Lavender had sat there on the floor beside Malachi as she waited for help to come. He looked so peaceful laying there still. She knew he wasn’t though. Inside there was a man being tortured. Her husband being tortured, the guilt eating at her. It was her fault. What if Octavius couldn’t overtake this demon? She wasn’t going to allow Malachi to be hurt or even killed because of this. Saving him was the only option.
As she sat there she would brush his face, wiping the blood from his cut. “I love you,” she whispered to him with teary eyes, unknowing it he could hear her? She moved to place her hand on her stomach suddenly. Her stomach felt ill, like she was going to be sick. Small cramping pains would come and go. After a minute she laid her head against the couch beside Malachi to rest, hoping the discomfort would go away soon.
Her head jerked up as soon as she heard Octavius’s voice. “He’s in here,” she shouted out to him. Slowly she stood herself up wearing her housecoat, still feeling the small pains in her stomach.
