Lavender’s heart leaped from her chest when Nicodemus grabbed Cormac and started with the questions. She feared that the demon wasn’t being convinced and had caught on to them? Were they not acting convincing enough? She wasn’t going to do anything more then give Cormac a small kiss on the lips. It would be too awkward then it was already.
When Cormac replied to Nicodemus, she looked at the demon with questioning eyes. It was the right answer and Cormac acted the part, not seeming to take it lightly. He had to take it serious or they might not make it out of there alive. “He knows,” she said firmly to Nicodemus. Whether the demon wanted his soul or body, it was irrelevant at this point. He could think whatever he wanted. “He’s here willing.” She gave Nicodemus a knowing look then took Cormac’s hand in hers to ease him towards her. She just wanted to put some distance between to two at this point.
