Cormac raised his eyebrows at her. He still wasn't sure how to deal with this. He kept telling himself it was joke, but the longer it went on the more it didn't seem like one. The idea of kissing her wasn't horrible, but at the same time it didn't feel right. The whole idea of her being a happily married woman and his friend make it awkward. He was uncomfortable with this whole thing and just hoped they both tried to surprise him with "It's a joke!" soon.
He followed her eyes down to watch her put someone in his pocket. Leaning down, knowing that if anyone saw them they'd look intimate and close, he whispered in her ear, "I don't need a crucifix to protect me."
Then he pulled back and grabbed her hand, wrapping his fingers around hers tightly.
