Cormac grinned, but it faltered when Astoria frowned for a second, unsure why. But when her smile quickly came back, he decided to let it go. He didn't need to answer her about everything, and in fact, it would probably be best if he didn't act like he caught every subtle thing that passed. He couldn't show he was paying too much attention, right? It would be better if he left out how much he was paying attention or how acutely aware of her presence he really was. "If anyone could end the world with just agreeing, it would be us," he replied with a grin himself.
When Astoria paused, he did too. Had what he said really been that wrong? Of course it'd been blunt, but she already knew that. Not only that, but she already knew that he was brazen. She'd pointed it out enough times herself for it to be debatable. He blinked, watching her closely. Did it really matter? What had happened? It was like some switch had been flicked in the conversation that had turned off the good mood that had been with them since the kiss? She smiled, finally. He found himself simply grateful for the smile and had no idea why. Maybe the switch hadn't been flipped after all? He had no idea now. Blinking, he nodded at her lack of answer.
