Astoria wasn't even sure how it had gotten this bad between. She'd made a simple comment about him being difficult to figure out and suddenly she felt as if she was supposed to be having a serious conversation when neither of them were really saying anything at all. How was she supposed to tell him that she didn't trust her own judgment? And that she didn't particularly trust him either? But despite the reservations he was interesting, he was charming and she enjoyed the playful teasing between them. He challenged her and she liked that. And she liked challenging him in return.
"I didn't mean it as an insult," she said with a frown. And she hadn't. It had been an observation, a frustration she pointed out because he had asked but nothing else. It wasn't that much of an obstacle to Astoria. The sudden negativity between them, however, was. Part of her did want to leave right then and there while another part was horrified at the thought of being so rude and impolite when it wasn't even Cormac's fault. Most of all, she really wanted to fix whatever it was that had gone wrong between them in less than a minute. Because she found herself liking him and that was also a problem. "It isn't as if trying to figure you out is some burden," Astoria clarified after sorting some of her thoughts.
She was surprised when she found herself staring at him again. Cormac's touch was a small comfort. The brush of his lips against hers was an even greater one. It was good to know that she hadn't messed up completely. His words made her feel a little better but she still found herself at a loss. Instead of replying Astoria brought her hand up to his cheek and leaned forward a little further, putting more pressure on his lips, kissing him and sparing both of them from having to think about it for just a little longer.
