Cormac laughed. "Oh yes," he said, "There is still plenty of time." There was still time for her to discover more reasons that he's terrible or for her to discover that he wasn't terrible at all. Every time they mentioned that there was still time to find out. No one was thinking of just running off now. Maybe one day she will, but right now, he was being given the time for her to really try to figure him out.
He was relieved when she didn't pull back her hand when he reciprocated the affection. He was still nervous she'd decide to fully withdraw. The little moments are what were counting for him. "Well, now I'm flattered. My death would be tragic to you," he said with a small smirk. "Oh, so you can haunt me, but I can't haunt you? That sounds unfair to me. If we kill the other, we should be allowed to haunt the other. It's only fair!" He was teasing, clearly. His grin and tone showed his playful attitude quite well, not leaving room for doubt.
