"Will I get boring after I'm not such a mystery anymore?" Astoria asked, eyebrow raised. It was a startling thought -- she didn't think so far ahead when it came to men. She was used to casual dating, to half-serious relationships meant to last only a few months. So why did she have to care so much about what he thought of her? She shrugged at his question. "Just a little. I still haven't figured you out yet, after all."
"Well then, I'm glad I'm not the only one making exceptions tonight," she said, smiling and hope that his words were true. She was just as flattered as he had been before.
Surprise flickered on Astoria's face when he got up and moved his chair to her side. The proximity made her nervous but she didn't let it show. She could feel a flutter in her stomach even as she thought about all the reasons to turn away from him, to put distance between them before she did something stupid. But then she could feel the warmth of his hand radiating against her skin. Astoria was silent. His words had barely register in her mind before she leaned in, closing the gap between them, pressing her lips against his, giving him all the permission he needed.
