Cormac grinned. "You let me win?" he teased, "Okay, you let me win. You are so generous." He shook his head, amused. "Of course, I'm not perfect! I never said I was. I just... pretend I am, I suppose, but doesn't everyone? Remember, no one likes to admit their mistakes and often people don't admit their imperfections at least in the beginning." He found this whole conversation amusing. It was interesting, this back and forth they did.
"Oh, yes, the exceptions I already have like a second chance," he said with a smile. "I shouldn't forget that. You have graced me with your presence and a second chance." He flattered still by the second chance. In a way, he knew full well neither of them had deserved a second chance from each other. They should have ruined the chance with each other their first meeting. "Parents are easily fooled by their children. But we like to keep the wool over their eyes long into adulthood. It makes things easier for both them and us."
"My intention is not to kill you, but yes, fine. I can't kill you and you can't just die. It means the same thing," he said with a grin. He shrugged his shoulders when she persisted, not saying anything. There was no way he was going to admit the things that went through his head. There was no way he'd give her that ammo, at least not yet. Things were complicated enough even with how easy it was between them now. They didn't mean more things to come between them, especially his feelings and thoughts.
