Cormac shook his head, not offended in the least. "That's just spiting hairs. So basically you choose to think that people aren't trustworthy first and instinctively."
Cormac started to laugh until she turned away. His hand immediately and automatically reached out and grazed her shoulder before he pulled it back. "Don't," he said softly. He meant not to turn away, but he wasn't sure it came out that way. He laughed. "Sometimes holding grudge can be more about self-preservation and protecting yourself than anything else. If they screw you once, what's to stop them from doing ti again? And if they do, it's almost your own fault for letting them," he said, his tone a bit more serious than before. He gave a small smile though, trying to indicate he wasn't trying to get into some deep discussion again.
"But I wouldn't have actually killed you. Technically, my hands would be clean," he protested, playfully, "And you'd have consciously made a choice to haunt me. Though maybe if that happens I should find that more of a compliment. Can't get enough of me even in death," he said, clearly teasingly albeit a bit flirtatiously. "This time the urge is not, but next time, I might have to disagree just out of principle."
