Cormac grinned. "Alright, then I give up," he said easily. He shrugged at her words about siblings. He couldn't see much bad about having siblings. Maybe he wouldn't have liked to share, but maybe it would have been less pressure on him to be "the one and only McLaggen heir and namesake". "I have favorite friends anyway," he said after a moment, "There's just people you get along with better."
He laughed. "Well, then maybe you should consider giving me the chance to find out for myself," he said with a smile. He wasn't one to back down and she knew it by now. In fact, in a way her denial actually egged him on. There was a part of him that wanted to prove her wrong despite himself. "We won't kill each other," he told her as if he knew for a fact. "It'd be way too much hassle for the survivor. I just might end up stranded alone is all."
He shook his head, grinning. "Next round I win." He paused, still happy, and added, "Maybe."
