Cormac frowned. So well for getting along. "I said I didn't," he said easily, trying not to get defensive himself. "But trust me, saying that you'd get along with my friends is a compliment. I don't even like half the people they hang out with on their own accord. And I was under that impression because I misinterpreted what you said. I thought you said you did. You said we had different experiences, I took it as though you didn't associate with those... outside our circle."
He nodded. "Empathy is important. I only possess a small amount myself," he confessed, and then nodded again. "I supposed it does." He sighed with a smile toying at his lips. "Yet, we already agreed most people don't admit to those mistakes."
"I didn't expect you would," he said with a grin. "But I'm honored you're making an exception for me."
