Astoria smiled. "I was just teasing," she said simply. She shrugged. "But I can understand that. I tend to get along better with men for some reason. I think it's because they're a little more genuine." She didn't have very many female friends. She knew many women and trusted very few. There was a tendency to be catty and jealous and Astoria hated that even if she was part of it more often than not. As for Cormac, she had no doubt that he had very few problems when it came to women.
"Not everyone is as enlightened," she replied. It had taken a long time for Astoria to figure out who she was and where her place in the world was. She still didn't really know for sure. But for whatever reason she felt defensive of the type of people he was criticizing. It was the way they had been raised and she knew from experience that breaking out of that mold was difficult. "I think it's just… hiding part of who you are, I guess. And that's the point, you know. People aren't supposed to know who you really are. Not everyone, at least. There are people that you make exceptions for and the rest don't really matter. There isn't enough trust in the world for them to matter." Astoria could count on one hand the people that knew everything about her. There were a number that knew her well and those were her friends, but most of the people Astoria knew, she simply considered acquaintances.
"It really is your weakness," she said with a grin. "And yes, that's true. I'd say half the world in general then."
