"What? I admitted no such thing," she said, amused, but not giving in.
Astoria laughed. "Now you really are giving yourself too much credit." There was some truth to his words, but like he'd said, she'd never admit it. "I only thought about it when I saw you. And when I did see you, I resented the fact that you had decided who I was without even knowing me." In the end, she still didn't think he'd been very fair at all. "I'm not as terrible as you made me out to be," she continued, shaking her head in amusement. Astoria couldn't remember what it was he'd accused her of anymore but she didn't remember how insulted she'd been. "I'm glad," she replied with a warm smile, not knowing what else she could say besides that. It was nice to hear. She looked at their hands again before she pulled away and reached for her wine instead, feeling like she needed a drink. Astoria smiled from behind her glass. She could still feel the warmth his hand had provided.
"And what is your goal?" she asked curiously before she could stop herself. She did want to know what it was that he wanted. Astoria looked at him skeptically before she laughed. "Oh, I don't believe you."
