Cormac laughed. Had he been that easy to read? No, he wasn't one who liked surprises, but in some cases, he didn't. It depended on the surprise itself as well as who was giving it. He wasn't sure, honestly, if he'd like a surprise from Astoria, but in a way, she'd already surprised him. By just being herself and not some young woman wrapped in the formalities and conservations of the pureblood youth. "I guess you could say both. I like some surprises, but hate others. It all depends," he said with a grin. "How about you?"
He shrugged. "Sure we are. But I'm sure she'd argue that point as well, saying how I was the lucky one to have her as a friend," he said, mostly kidding. The whole situation with Katie was new and strange. The fact around the same time she'd agreed to marry him was when she decided to out her friend was a little jarring. His faith in her was shaken at the moment.
He grinned. "Oh, I'll hold you to that now. Now you can't fake some family emergency to get out of dessert with me," he teased. He leaned forward slightly, smirking at her now. "Yes, you don't think too badly of my tastes. I mean, let's be honest. I did choose to have dinner with you. When I chose this, how can my taste be all that bad?"
