RP - My interest is in the future Date: June 1, 2000 Characters: Octavius Pepper and OPEN Location: The Leaky Cauldron Warnings: He might predict your characters death…for fun. Public/Private: Very Public Summary: Octavius seeks sanctuary away from his shop for a bit after receiving an interesting package of shrunken heads that will not shut up. Anyone up for a bit of fortune telling? Status: Incomplete
Octavius was seated at a table in the far corner of the pub, a steaming cup of tea to one side of him on the old wooden table as he shuffled the deck of tarot cards. It probably wouldn’t seem it, but the Leaky Cauldron for all the hustle and bustle and throughway traffic of magical folk going using the back way to enter into Diagon Alley was very nice compared to his shop. At least at the moment.
Normally he would be in his shop during the day and seeing to the customers that came in, enjoying the peace and serenity that could be found in the quiet. That all changed however with the package he received from his brother older brother Barnabus with a note attached: “Received these from an acquaintance of mine and thought they would be perfect for my little brother. Good luck.” Octavius hadn’t really understood what “good luck” could mean but knowing his brother Barney, it could mean anything and usually meant something was going to cause him pain. Octavius had held the box up to his ear and shook it, in response he felt some movement and heard stifled mumbling through the box. In retrospect, he wished he hadn’t opened the damn thing.
But opened it he had and inside he discovered 3 shrunken heads. Three shrunken heads that were very vocal about their relief to no longer be closed up in a box. It was an interesting gift…nothing really dangerous about it and probably would make an interesting addition to his store.
After putting them up on display, he had gone back to his normal routine as though it were any other day. That was when the talk started; the constant yammering about anything and everything. It went on for hours! Till finally Octavius decided that it would be a good day to go sit in a pub, have a drink and do some fortune telling. He could understand now what his brother had meant.
I’m going to need to pay him back for his wonderful gift. Perhaps send him that curse rabbits foot I got in the states.
