Malachi rubbed her back as she spoke. He wasn't sure what to think. "We are married now. I am only a man, but I'm supposed to be your man, strong. Someone who you can relay on to protect you, to share with you, to hold you. You were there for me. You are there for me. And crying isn't a weakness. Crying is emotion. Emotion isn't weak," he said firmly. He hated to see her cry, of course, but it wasn't because it was a weakness. It was that he hated to see her sad. "And you getting sick almost every morning is partly my fault, remember? I'm the one who gladly and happily got your pregnant even if it wasn't planned."
He paused. "Hey, can we stop this? It's supposed to be a fun night. I'm sorry I brought it up." Gently, he placed his hands on her hips and started to move her off him.
