Reflective: I pray that something picks me up Date: 23 October 2010 Characters: Astoria Greengrass + NPC Location: Astoria's flat, Magical London Public/Private: Private Warning: Drug use and a light snog. Summary: Astoria prepares for a night out. Status: Complete
It hadn't always been this way, Astoria thought, briefly conjuring the memories of more innocent times. She couldn't pinpoint when exactly things had changed, when it became to okay escape reality in such an uncouth manner. It felt classless -- dirty, almost -- and Astoria hated herself for submitting to something which she would normally be so against. But the effects were so good, so worth the brief flash of shame that was inevitably followed by pleasure, by happiness, by excitement -- by everything but the numbness that had become so commonplace in her life. The rush she felt wasn't an experience she was willing to give up, not yet, not until she absolutely had to.
She smiled at the little tablets in her hand, the electric blue and neon green reminding her of the flashing lights she'd see tonight. Such seedy clubs were certainly no place for a lady like Astoria but that was the allure of them. The contrast to the homes she frequented for tea, to her own flat was extreme. It felt like a different world. A world she could return to now that the curfew had been lifted.
An arm reached over her from behind in a half hug, holding up a glass of wine. Astoria took it without hesitation and, after popping the pills, downed the glass, the strong taste of alcohol lingering in her mouth. The pills would take some time to take effect but until then she could certainly enjoy herself. She turned around to face the man she was currently... seeing. He was more than a few years older than Astoria, handsome, and willing to have a good time. Completely inconsequential. It was a careless thing but Astoria found that those were usually the most enjoyable of all. She brought her hands to his face, slowly caressing his jaw before pulling him down for a kiss. His response was immediate and Astoria couldn't help but smile as a groan escaped his lips and he deepened the kiss.
It wasn't the romance she hoped to someday have but it would do for now. Thinking was becoming increasingly difficult and she felt a haziness that told her the wine, at least, was taking effect. She pulled away suddenly, letting an uncharacteristic giggle escape her before clearing her throat.
"We should get going, no?" she asked, not really needing any confirmation. It had been too long since she'd been out and she wanted to have fun. Her night was just beginning. Astoria reached for her date's hand and interlaced their fingers before tugging him towards the door. He followed reluctantly, making sure to grab their cloaks before letting the door quietly shut behind him.
