Maddox smiled. When she took his hand, be brushed his fingertips along her palm gently, caressing her skin. Their hands resting on the table, he looked crosses from her, thinking of what to say. They had plenty of topics. But a few of them were off the table to speak of tonight. He refused to speak of work or their families. Their families was an especially touchy subject while one day they had to talk about it, it's not now, not here. And work was just mundane and pointless to speak about over and over again.
"So, Molly, let's see if I can't get to know you even more than I do," he said with a sly smile. "I can ask many questions. But how about we keep it easy? You're a well-educated, talented and strong woman, so how about reading? You're so busy half the time--" Which by that, they both knew he meant at work "--that I never have seen you read. But, you are an intelligent woman. I do suspect you read something, even if it's tabloids."
