"All right," Severus answered, smiling, despite the blood presently rising in his cheeks. He placed his hand on Sappho's back, between her shoulder blades, to guide her toward the table settings Miss Lamb had indicated. If either Linton or Miss Lamb noticed his gaffe of saying 'today,' they hadn't let on. It was rather presumptuous to say that, implying that there might be more joint lunches to come. On the other hand, his teaching Linton to brew had been going swimmingly so far -- in spite of the other boy's nerves. If lunch today went even half so well, he imagined Sappho would have somebody she could truly call a new friend before long. Smiling again at the thought, he sat down at the Ravenclaw table and held out his hand to help steady Sappho whilst she climbed over the bench to sit as well.
