Another individual would've immediately tripped Eva's subconscious into alerting the other members of the security team via cyberpathy, but the man she'd been trying to catch up to, and who stared into her soul, was not another individual. He was hers. She whipped her head around to set sights on the original, while the copy stood his ground, and most of what Nate said went unheard. Her nostrils flared as she returned her gaze to the intruder.
She shot a look at the man beside her, accusatory when he said 'fascinating', as if it were inappropriate, then squared her shoulders and began walking to the other man. "I'll be glad to hear it," she said as she approached, then motioned for him to take the corner he'd been about to before she spotted him. There was a sitting room beyond the nearest door. Her heart was pounding. Thankfully, she felt the presence of her real Nathaniel following closely behind, having had no need for an invitation. He was pleasantly rude that way.
