Her realization of their fairy tale destiny would have made Charles smile on any occasion, had his lips not already been curved into satisfied smirk. The sheer amount of whimsy that radiated from Zap on a daily basis was a cure-all for the harsh world they all had to deal with - and he could feel the heat of it against the colder regions of his soul. It was the same healthy warmth he’d sensed that day in the hospital – after the villain had left her for dead.
Their latest kiss, more honest than the ones before it, had threatened to steal what little breath Charles had managed to save up after they’d stopped their most desperate of movements. It was worth it, the sensation of her enviable lips against his made what had just happened feel like only a precursor to what could be ahead for them. "Yes..." Charles answered softly, just above the sound of the water that cascaded from the shower. His arms held her tightly and his eyes found hers so that he could make sure she’d understood exactly what he’d said. "I came to that room looking for another lost soul to shepherd, but I found so much more. I discovered the most beautiful, kind, wonderful person in the whole wide world." Charles allowed a more jovial grin break through than he’d intended, but the words he’d just shared did not permit him his normal level of British temperance.
"Come on, princess." Charles kissed the top of her forehead and lingered to smile against her skin. There was more to show her, more that he could sense she wanted. The water had been turned off, the sauna cleaned up, and Charles had gently placed a robe around her shoulders, before he’d replaced his trunks and once again carried Zap in his arms. From the sub-basement to his door, Professor Xavier had carried his Snow White like he loved her – for the simple reason that he did. No one noticed them, no one had even been in the same hallway at the same time as them - another luxury Charles’ mutation afforded them. But his powers hadn’t just been focused outwardly, he’d searched Zap’s lovely mind as well – not for confirmation of her feelings, he knew how genuine those were, but for exactly what would make his princess the happiest. Two things stood out to Charles immediately, she wanted to lay in the ‘big bed’ and she wanted more of her prince - but not in the way most people would – and that made Charles feel good in all the right places.
