WHO: Brooke and Stacey WHERE: The Ferry Docks WHEN: Morning, Day 2 WHAT: Thread SUMMARY: Brooke goes to meet her friend when Stacey arrives! WARNINGS: To be updated as we thread this. :D
Getting away from Texas had given Brooke the ability to breathe again, but there were definitely things about Sherwood that Brooke had really missed since she'd moved to Colorado. The friendships, in particular. There was a certain solidarity in raising children in a small community together. In Sherwood, Brooke knew some of the other mothers as well as she knew herself. They ate at the same restaurants. Attended the same events. Participated in the same activities. Read the same books. In Colorado, besides Adam, Brooke was largely alone. In Sherwood, she had a gal pal or two that she could tell anything.
It had gotten a lot harder after their kids died. But with just enough time and distance, to say that Brooke was excited to reunite with Stacey Pearce that morning was an understatement. Especially after the events of the day before.
The stuff with Veronica from the night before was very much still on Brooke's mind, but she had a bright smile on her face while she stood on the dock, waiting for the ferry to arrive. Brooke wished she could have made a sign or something, but her hands were occupied with a to-go container filled with Belgian waffles and pina colada syrup. As soon as Brooke had tasted them that morning, making sure that Stacey wouldn't miss them took over as Brooke's top priority.
As soon as her friend got off the boat, and Brooke had gotten her attention, Brooke raised her free arm to give Stacey a hug. "YOU MADE IT!" Brooke said. "Let me catch you up on everything."
