"Yeah," Max answered. "We have to wait." There were worse things that happened than waiting, but the waiting was kind of a symptom of the worse thing, so it felt pretty bad. He followed Jer at a quick pace when the other boy jetted through the doors.
Max shook his head. "I stood on the front desk and no one said a word. But maybe you can get it to work!!" He beamed at his friend and then gestured in the direction of the dining room. "I'm going to see if they have any breakfast left."
