Holidays were chaos. Emergency room visits spiked between five and twelve percent around the holidays, and in the limbo week between one holiday and the next, there really wasn't much of a drop off. People were still recovering from Christmas, and others were preparing for New Years. Either way, her ER was busier than it would be a week or two from now. Andrea wasn't sure what time it was, but she knew it had been hours since her last break. But she wasn't complaining. She preferred to stay busy. She had picked up this shift to cover for another doctor, after all. Any excuse to keep moving.
When she was directed to her next patient, Andi grabbed the chart by the door and entered the room eyes skimming the admission paperwork. Patient complaints, symptoms, the basics. "Alright, Miss..." she looked at the name, then paused. Ah. The repeat customer Nurse Gimble had mentioned. Andrea contained a sigh and set down the chart to look at her patient. "Leilani? I need you to open your eyes for me, okay?"
At a glance, the head lac appeared superficial, maybe worth a few stitches, but the intake paperwork suggested Miss Blake was under the influence. Potential concussion. Andrea had a handful of frequent fliers in her ER, but right now, Leilani was the only one she was genuinely worried about. "It's Doctor Fletcher. I'd like to examine you if that's alright. Can you tell me what happened?"
