"Oh." The word was tinged with the regret that he felt at possibly overstepping. "Sorry for not easing you into that then." Not everyone looked at the world the way that Blaze did or dealt with things the way that Blaze did either. Blaze thought any of the people he'd seen should be given the space they needed to cope in the ways that were best for them.
From what he'd gleaned so far, Blaze had thought the others might be dead too, but Max waking up on the beach yesterday was new information and different than what Blaze would have thought. "I've only been here a day, I think. Have you seen any others?"
Somehow Blaze doubted that the director of Casper was really focused on ghost/human interaction accuracy or that any of the ghosts had struggled to interact. But it was such a Max thing to say. Blaze didn't want maybes or at leasts right then, but the way Max was looking at him made Blaze think Max was saying that for himself and that Max wanted reassurance. He put a hand on Max's shoulder, surprised in the first millisecond that he could. "I wouldn't be surprised if you'll figure out how to do everything Casper can do."
As much as Blaze wasn't interested in at leasts then, he could, at least, admit he was glad he didn't look the way those ghosts did. He could see Max as a Casper, no doubt, but Blaze would have probably ended up a Stretch type.
