log: sasha bordeaux and bruce wayne
summary. sasha meets her charge. it does oh-so-well.
bruce. If Bruce Wayne ever threw a tantrum, it would be the day Lucius Fox told him about the new bodyguard. After a long debate -- and Bruce having the small victory of Lucius admitting that he might not need one -- Bruce was presented with the threat of the Board and Lucius resigning if he did not take on Ms. Bordeaux as a bodyguard. Reluctantly, he agreed. After all the work him and Lucius put into organizing the Board as it stood today, Bruce and Wayne Enterprises could not afford starting from scratch -- and Lucius knew that. Bruce had no choice but to agree to it. In a way, he was impressed with Lucius' strategy -- but that still left him with a bodyguard that he did not want.
It was his first day back to the office since the attempt on his life over a week ago. As Lucius' predicted, Bruce would be in bright and early Monday morning, greeting the usual people before keeping to himself in his office. Sasha Bordeaux was called into Bruce Wayne's office shortly after Lucius' departure. Bruce had been standing at the large glass panel on the far side of his office, overlooking Gotham City. He glanced over his shoulder at Sasha's entrance before committing to the skyline. "Ms. Bordeaux."
sasha. "Mr Wayne." Sasha had spent the weekend preparing for this. She'd had to go home to pack up her stuff, and while most of it was going into storage, there were certain things she needed for this job. While it might end up being replaced by various pieces of Wayne technology, she wanted to start off with something familiar. She'd also spent a fair amount of time doing more research on Mister Wayne and the shenanigans he got up to, as well as some initial research on possible assailants, as well as the would-be assasin. She still had a fair way to go with that.
"If you don't mind, sir, I would prefer if you moved away from the window." She didn't care what it was made of, there was always the chance that someone would develop a weapon that could pierce it. And she hadn't had enough time to get herself properly familiar with the building and how things worked.
bruce. "If someone managed to scale the building on the off chance I would be in my office, standing at the window, then they deserve their fair chance," he said sarcastically. If anything, Sasha's little comment made him more determined to stay by the window. "Besides, I want to make sure your job proves interesting."
sasha. "I'd really hate for a sniper to be keeping an eye on your office after following you from home this morning," she replied, her words coated in sugar. She wasn't going to be cowed by you, Mister Wayne. She's worked for presidents. "Somehow I think my job will be interesting enough without you helping." Sasha moved to stand by the window with him, leaning slightly so she could do a scan for anything suspicious.
bruce. "I've been shot before, I could handle it again." He smirked, glancing over at her. His left arm, still kept in a dark colored sling, rested at his side. Being at the window had grown boring now that she decided to join him. He turned and moved toward his desk, taking a seat in the large executive seat. "So you're going to be following my every move, huh?"
sasha. "I was hired to make sure you weren't shot again. It would be terrible if the next bullet went through your heart." Sasha doesn't really sound as if she thought it was a terrible thing, but just something she needed to make sure was avoided. She stayed at the window, though she did turn to watch Bruce move. "That is the plan. There are a number of things we'll need to discuss, of course."
bruce. Bruce gave a dismissive wave with his right hand on the topic of getting shot in the heart. That was not a concern of his, clearly. "Hm? As?" He wasn't terribly invested in the conversation, noted by the fact that he was clicking around and idly checking his email on his desk computer. He had already been alerted by Lucius that she was moving into Wayne Manor -- which would explain why Alfred was preparing a place for her.
sasha. Well, sorry Bruce, you'd just have to cope with someone who wanted to try and keep you alive. "Mister Fox will be briefing me on all your business engagements and meetings, but I will need you to keep me informed of your personal ones. I'll also be speaking to both the security here and to your butler at the manor regarding certain security arrangements I'd like to make, and I would appreciate your co-operation in that area as well." Sasha didn't want unknown people just wandering in and out of Bruce's office and home. And probably some known people as well.
bruce. Bruce let out a small laugh. "I don't even keep up with all my personal 'engagements and meetings', Sasha." Underneath his carefree facade, however, Bruce was growing very peeved. Who was this woman to come in and hijack his life? Since news of her earlier in the day, he had been going over it in his head and trying to figure out how to conduct his more personal affairs with this woman hovering all the time. It wouldn't be hard -- he does masquerade as Batman, after all -- but it was going to be more annoying or frustrating than anything. "And you're making it sound more like a prison than a protection," he smirked, turning from his computer and swiveling his chair to face her. Surely there were more friendly ways to insert yourself into someone's life without the seriousness.
sasha. "Well then, just do your best. I will be with you at all times, of course, but I do like to be prepared for situations wherever possible." She would not let him rattle her. She honestly wouldn't. She had a job to do, and she would perform it despite Bruce's reservations or the restrictions placed on her by the company. "I have no plans on restricting your movements," she said with a sweet smile, "Just the movements of anyone that isn't supposed to be hanging around." No more secret rendezvous for you if she could help it.
bruce. No more secret rendezvous sounded like restricting his movements. His life was one big secret rendezvous. "Hn, well... if that 'anyone' is a gorgeous woman, I should let you know that she is allowed to be near me in all ways possible."
sasha. Sasha resisted the urge to roll her eyes. "Provided she's not trying to kill you, I think I can cope with that." And if he wanted to start tangling with assasins like that... well then she'd just have to have another talk with Mister Fox. There was only so much a woman could do.
