Nate wasn't too worried about his parents, actually. He was pretty sure that there wasn't a zombie in the universe that could possibly take down his mom. She was just too much of a b-word. As long as his dad stuck by her, he would be fine.
Or, maybe they wouldn't. They were kind of awful, anyway, and Nate was still stoned.
He shrugged. “Probably,” he said. He didn't mention that this safe houses never really worked in all of the zombie movies that he'd ever watched. There was always a point where that other shoe dropped. That's why he had his lacrosse stick with him. But she didn't need to know that, not yet. Especially because things never happened in real life the way they did in movies. He realized he needed to be more verbal with his assurances: “Yeah. Yeah, I'm sure Bart knows what's going on.
