Serena stared blankly back and forth between the two of them as the accusations flew. She knew that Carter wasn't exactly everyone's favorite guy but she didn't realize how deep the resentment went. As for her and Carter's relationship, well it was nobody else's business, it was also ancient history. Her dirty little habit that nobody ever needed to know about.
"I was supposed to meet Dan there. He had some art showing to go to at his dad's gallery. Carter was there and we were just chatting for a couple of minutes before the zombies showed up. We ran upstairs and well, you know the rest."
And the mere mention of Dan's name had Serena's heart twisted up into worried knots. She hoped that he had made it safely back to Brooklyn, but just looking down at the New York city streets during her helicopter ride, it had been more than obvious that the entirety of Manhattan was gridlocked. Nobody was making it to Brooklyn or anywhere else for that matter.
