Blair shook her head at Serena's question, feeling the prick of disappointment she always experienced when having to admit to her own ignorance. That it was now over a question of such dire importance to them both only made the feeling worse. Blair always knew the latest gossip and everything else that shaped their privileged, closed-off world. Now she was utterly in the dark.
"I think it's just the city... just the Upper East Side, really. Or that's what he seems to believe. I think Bart said midtown was still fine so... we should be good," she said weakly, fully realizing how generously one would have to define 'good' to use it at the moment. She frowned as Serena's attention shifted off of her, instantly annoyed. Really! Blair still needed comforting! Not to mention a refill. Things might not have been perfect between her and Serena since the other girl's return, but Blair expected her to step up under the circumstances.
Her pique was abruptly extinguished as she realized what it was that was commanding Serena's attention, her face obscured for a moment by a veil of golden hair as she checked her phone. Suitably chastised, Blair swallowed tightly, knowing exactly who it was her friend was checking her messages for.
"You know, S. As frankly horrifying as that Gossip Girl blast was, it does mean one thing. Your mom and Eric are going to be Bart's family now. I'm sure he'll look out for them." Her minions would never have believed it, but Blair's voice was genuinely sweet just then as she tried to reassure her friend.
