Who would have thought Chuck to be so clear headed in a crisis? Serena had never given it a thought before, in fact tried not to think about Chuck in any way possible. But he was showing his true colors now and she couldn't hate the guy who had saved her best friend and offered them all shelter. Even if he was usually vile and reprehensible.
She supposed she had surprised herself as well. She had also never given much thought to how she might react in a crisis and she thought she had done rather well given the circumstances and in heels, no less.
"I was with Carter, and those things just came from out of nowhere. I tried to get everyone to leave. I thought maybe I could but... it was too late." Nobody had listened to Dan and some of their classmates had paid the ultimate price with their lives. And by the time Serena had started shouting her own warnings it had been too late.
"One of them tried to take a bite out of Carter. I kicked it and we ran. We had to go up because the exits were all blocked with the... cannibals, I guess? I mean, what exactly are those things?"
Now that she had a moment of calm quiet with Blair, she could actually think clearly about what had happened and the hows and the whys. It just wasn't possible for monsters to be real and yet she had seen them herself.
Quickly, she polished off her drink welcoming the warm buzz that floated through her limbs.
