Crazy wasn't a strong enough word for what had happened today but Serena didn't bother correcting Blair who already seemed shaken up enough. At least Blair's response was warranted. Serena was still puzzled by the easygoing way Nate had managed the news. Whatever he was smoking was obviously stronger than reason. Serena wished for that sort of sublime ignorance.
"Okay, let's get you one," she said instead. Taking Blair by the hand she tugged her back over to the bar and then let her go so she could stand behind the bar. "Let's make it something strong." Serena was no bartender but she could make do in a pinch. She threw together a quick concoction of mostly liquor and passed it over to Blair before making the same thing for herself.
She tasted it and wrinkled her nose. Okay, so a future in bartending was out of the question but at least it was doing its job, taking the edge off. Serena wanted to stay alert and focused so she could fight back if she needed to but at the same time, things seemed quiet on the inside of The Palace and Serena needed to take the edge off badly. The images of her dying classmates still haunted her thoughts.
"How did you get out of there?" Serena asked curiously. She knew that Blair had escaped with Chuck but she didn't know the logistics of it. The school had been a madhouse which was why Serena had opted to go up instead of down, despite how flawed that plan might have been. It turned out to be a pretty good one, in her estimation.
