"Breathe, Blair," Serena smiled despite herself, overwhelmed with joy that her best friend was safe. Sure, they'd had their differences (and that was putting it very fucking mildly) but they were both here now. If Serena couldn't find it in her heart to hate Chuck at this given moment, she could hardly hate Blair.
"Nate's safe. He's looking through the rooms with Carter." Of course it would be her to be stuck with Nate during the apocalypse. That definitely hadn't happened on purpose and Serena was eager to share the explanation with Blair, just in case. Even though she doubted that was anywhere close to being on Blair's mind at the moment given her state of dress and disarray.
"Carter and I ran upstairs when those... things came in. Nate was up on the roof smoking and he let us up there. I couldn't think of anything else to do. Those things were everywhere, they were...."
She didn't need to say it again, did she? Every time she said it, it felt a little more real.
"They were eating people."
And one had come dangerously close to eating Carter. She wasn't sure which was more applicable. That she was the only reason Carter was alive right now or that she was the only reason his life had been in danger in the first place. Either way, they had both made it through.
"How are you? Are you okay? No, of course you're not. I'm sorry, that's a stupid question. Do you want to get a drink? There's no bartender but I could probably whip up something."
