It seemed like a dream. Like nothing but a hellish nightmare. Soon Serena would wake up in her room, she would run her fingers through her mess of thick blonde hair and grab coffee in the kitchen with Lily before school. Then she might have lunch with Dan or possibly even with Blair and her minions on the steps. It would just be another normal day.
But normal had fled the building, along with a lot of other people who had for one reason or another decided leaving The Palace was a good idea. Serena couldn't imagine why. Here they were actually safe, at least for now. It was amazing how quickly money made things happen. She was Serena van der Woodsen so naturally a helicopter had rescued her from the chaos at Constance.
But what about the Humphreys? She didn't think a helicopter would be coming for them anytime soon. And she couldn't help but worry.
She sat perched at the bar but she wasn't drinking anything, didn't think she could stomach it even if she wanted to. And right now Nate's weed was sounding pretty damn tempting but she knew she needed to stay sharp. If only she could take the edge off of the worry that gnawed at her. Where was her mother? Eric?
She chewed on a pinky fingernail, a habit she had long ago kicked when a familiar brunette appeared.
"B!" Serena exclaimed and launched right off of her bar stool and into her bestie's arms, hugging her tightly. "I'm so glad you're okay."
