Chuck chewed on his lower lip as his father spoke. It was just like him to try to be prepared for every scenario, so it was likely that he really was just being overprotective. Still, it was beyond strange for Chuck to think of his father as a protective figure at all, and the notion raised mixed feelings in him. Was he acting out of love or duty? Much as Chuck wished he knew the answer, it was hard to say.
"Okay," he sighed softly. "We'll wait for the car and I'll... see you soon." He paused for half a breath. "Thanks Dad." He meant it, and the sincerity showed in his tone.
