Bart released a shuddering breath as Chuck confirmed that he was alive and in one piece. He didn't allow himself even a moment to bask in the intense feeling of relief, however. If the report on his desk was accurate his son was far from safe just yet. He dimly registered the rest of Chuck's shaky message, narrowed eyes widening slightly as he processed the words. His son had killed someone? The idea of Chuck being close enough to one of these freaks to injure it filled Bart with renewed panic, but also with purpose. He was Bart Bass, CEO of Bass Industries and a self-made billionaire. He was going to get his son out of there, nothing would stop him. He had endless resources and connections at his disposal.
"Okay, Charles, okay. Calm down," he said gruffly, wishing suddenly that the Bass Industries helicopter was capable of making a landing in the middle of the Upper East Side. "Just stay put with the Waldorfs' girl. I've already called for a car."
He stood up then, needing to do something, needing to be active. "The most important thing is for you to just stay away from these things. Did you... did you say that you killed one of them?"
