Chuck might've taken the opportunity to say something appropriately snarky (and likely dirty) back to establish that nothing had changed and their dynamic could and would proceed as normal, but he was interrupted by the buzzing of his phone. His eyes locked on Blair's for a moment, and he glanced at her, silently letting her know how important the call was.
Flipping his phone open, he conversed with his father, ever-conscious of Blair's presence as he talked. When he ended the call, he was shaking almost worse than he had after he'd killed the creature, but this time he knew better than to reach for Blair, even though he wanted to. Instead, he let her hand drop and moved a few steps away from her, giving her space.
"My dad is sending a car," he told her, as if she hadn't heard his half of the conversation. "It should be here soon. It'll take us to the Palace, which he says is safe. You should stay there tonight," he looked at her pointed. "I'm sure there are rooms. You should get Nate and Serena there, too."
For the first time, it occurred to him to worry about his friends, and he quickly fired off a text to the two in question.
