HALLOWEEN DANCE

Afternoon classes are cancelled in preparation for the beloved Halloween Dance. Chaos overtakes the school as everyone scrambles to perfect their costumes, or the Atrium's decorations. The dance may not start until 7:00 PM, but there's a lot of work to be done before then. And after that particularly vicious anonymous post, some students could use the distraction.

After dinner, students have a little more time to run back to their cabins, throw on their costumes, and find their date if they have one. Joanna May and [Dateless Character Y] are mistaken for a couple when they stop to discuss a very large squirrel they saw. They impulsively decide to go to the dance together, because why not.

Finally, the sun starts to set, and it's time for the dance. Upon entering the Atrium, students discover it's been transformed into a stunning haunted Victorian manor... with a rather rustic log cabin feel. Cobwebs are carefully arranged on dusty velvet curtains, and fake bats flutter around the upper levels in time to the music. Books occasionally rattle on fake bookshelves, and stern-faced portraits will scream "boo!" at any wallflowers who let their guards down. The Atrium is lit only by blue, green and purple lights, giving it an appropriately moody feel, and all teachers and staff have decided to get into the spirit by donning their sharpest-looking Victorian costumes.

At the refreshments table, the eerily lit punch bowl constantly emits fog from dry ice, and an array of spooky snacks have been created by the house-elves. Decorated skulls, bloodshot eyeballs, vampire teeth, giant spiders, tiny tombstones shoved into cups of chocolate "dirt"—these creepy offerings are in fact incredibly delicious, even if some of them might look just a little too realistic. Vegan options are also available, and will be pointed out by Prospero.

Outside on the large balcony overlooking the lake, potted trees and magically flowering bushes have been scattered about, along with little benches and soft fairy lights, giving a fairytale feel that cooperates nicely with the idea of a Victorian garden. The surrounding area is full of jack-o-lanterns and candles.

Anyone who needs to go to the restrooms will find that someone has taken cutouts of aliens and UFOs and decorated the doors, walls and mirrors with them. A small musical device is playing the X-Files theme on repeat.

Afternoon classes are cancelled.
By 2:00 PM, the Atrium is fully cleared out and decorating begins.
Dance starts at 7:00 PM and lasts until 11:00 PM.

Setup: After lunch, Event Committee, staff and volunteers help to get the Atrium looking its best. Event Committee has thrown up magically impenetrable curtains around the Atrium, so even students headed in for dinner at 6 PM won't be able to see what they're working on.

Before the Dance: Glitter, hairspray and bloody makeup fills every cabin as students ready their costumes!

The Beginning of the Dance: Students are allowed into the Atrium and get to admire the decorations and one another's costumes. The student band, The Holy Rosicrucians, plays a short set to get things started. (~7:00 PM)

The Middle of the Dance: Finally, things really take off! There's dance music, refreshments, and everyone is milling about freely. (~8:00-11:00 PM)

The Balcony: The balcony overlooks the lake, and some students mingle out here to chat or appreciate the scenery. (~8:00-11:00 PM)

Outside by the Docks: Even more privacy and quiet. It's a little eerie down here, though... (~8:00-11:00 PM)

End of the Night: The dance is wrapping up, and everyone begins to return to their cabins. (~11:00-12:00)

Detention: Sylvester Stoker, Rosemary Stoker, Reid Wainwright, Ursula de Luca, Kurt Wolfhart, Riley Stamper, Olivia Sanchez, Casper Kim, Casey Patterson and Jacob Wood are all expected to show up for detention. They will be assisting in cleaning up the Atrium after the dance. If your character does not show, there will be IC repercussions. (~11:00-12:00)

Late Night: After the dance has long since passed, is there anything else happening? (12:00 AM onwards.)

	Riley is SO EXCITED. Her boys!! And their girl! D! LEE! Z! ....Casper? She can't throw underwear at all of them, so instead the SECOND they take the stage, she's dragging Chloe out to the dance floor with her to make it a party. SHE HAS TO SUPPORT HER HOLEY CRUSTACEANS. 	Well the Holy Crustifers aren't exactly dance music so it doesn't really matter. She just wants to get out and prance around in circles and spin and flounce her hair. SPIN WITH ME!!! WHO CARES ABOUT THE RHYTHM???? (Reply to this) (Parent)

	Z is surprisingly showy and theatrical on stage, for being in a band like this. And being herself. She does some creepy, swaying lil dance moves with her bass, tosses her braids, winks at people, kneels to sing whispery lil indie lyrics to them, etc. Annnnnd she's dressed up as Wednesday Addams, similar to this kinda look. Vee cheered for her friends and complimented Zoey like WHOA because she looks so good! And she definitely winked and got into her indie lyric moments ;)

Ryan definitely watched Zoey on stage and smiled at her and tried not to look like TOO much of a creeper. (They totally could orchestrate a "let's meet up there" thing. Ryan needs like, a lot of help with costume though. Any ideas!!!?!??

	You better believe Zoey gave Vee some attention up there :D ALSO RYAN I mean thanks Diego Z returns any little smiles and looks visibly perky and maybe slightly uncharacteristically nervous. 	Cole doesn't know much about music, but he knows that Zoey is in the band and wants to support his art-senpai, so he hangs out at the back of the crowd to watch. While his elaborate costume doesn't allow him to clap very easily, he tries to turn his prosthetics the right way to at least mime the gesture. Way to go Z and Azurcrest and scary Casper! 	Poor form to dance to your bff's cheating ex-boyfriend's band, especially since Ulysses isn't even playing, so Cricket hangs back by the entrance greeting stragglers. Levi is dressed as what's supposed to be some representation of The Mad Hatter. His step-sister picked it out, he just wears it.

As he walks onto the stage, he finds Cecil in the crowd and winks to him then blows a quick little kiss as he strolls over to his keyboard & theremin setup. There's not many theatrics he can do while he plays his stationary instruments, but he looks like he's having a good time as he sways and nods his head along to the beat. He provides male backing vocals as needed and GETS SUPER PUMPED WHEN THEY PLAY HIS HOBGOBLIN SONG CHOICE. Hobgoblins are totally spooky, guys. WHERE IS STUBBY BOARDMAN? WHERE DID HE GO? NOBODY HAS SEEN HIM IN YEARS.

Diego's a little nervous right before they go on, but you wouldn't be able to guess that once he's on stage. He's bright and sunny, and introduces all the band members individually so that their friends can scream and cheer for them. "Special thanks to Casper Kim for filling in last minute and managing not to kill me during practice!" Diego joins in on applauding Casper for not committing murder.

Everyone trying to dance to one of the most hipstery folky songs in the set almost makes Diego laugh right in the middle of singing, and he drops the last half of that lyric before he recovers. He grins through the rest of the song despite the ~morbid~ content.

Cecil is, of course, cheering enthusiastically as soon as the Holy Rosicrucians take the stage and begin to play. He's got nobody to dance with, since his date is up there too, so he hangs to the side enjoying the music of his talented friends. And maybe swooning over his talented boyfriend. Just a little.

Near the end of the performance, his voice is getting a bit louder and more audible among the cheering. For reasons. Though, among his fellow Azurcrests, it's nothing particularly special.

By the time Casper arrives for the dance and the set with the Holy Rosicrucians, his mood has improved considerably. He's not beaming and he doesn't have a bounce in his step or anything, but he seems certain and ready to do this. He looks in Katya's direction as he climbs the steps to the stage (shut up, Levi), gets out his drum sticks, and drops down into his position at the back of the stage.

While he doesn't have much showmanship, he's a talented drummer and it's clear why he was called in to substitute for the absent Ulysses. He even seems to get into the music eventually. WONDERS NEVR CEASE.

Near the end of the set, the band changes gears and plays a pop punk song that was obviously his pick. At least it's a little more danceable?

	Katya clearly did her best to not have a crazy smile on her face while he played and made little heart hands at him when he took the stage. During the whole time, she danced and sung along clearly in a far better mood than she was a few hours ago. Plus she has to come along and support her Casper! (Reply to this) (Parent)
