HUNGER GAMES: DAY 4

Numbers are getting smaller and smaller. The finish line is in sight, but there are still so many opportunities to die.

THE RULES

You may not ‘kill’ someone while they’re naked. (If any "bits" are exposed.)
You may not ‘kill’ someone in their cabin, the bathroom, the showers, during a Grotto party, the infirmary, or in the cafeteria.
You may not ‘kill’ someone in front of a teacher. This is largely so that staff doesn’t catch onto this definitely reasonable and well-organized game created by sensible children.
If you actually hurt the other person in your murder attempt, you’re out of the game. The person who was injured takes your knife, and it’ll be as though they killed you.
Feel free to play out scenes of the kills, or attempted kills, on this post.
You and the other player decide the details of how the kill happened! The only information we will provide is the approximate time of the kill and who was killed.
Originally, player activity during the game was going to play a role in success, but the system ended up too complicated. However, when we get down to the final ~10 survivors on Friday, activity and strategy will count a great deal when it comes to who wins.
If there is an IC dispute over a kill, for instance, if Clarence got too violent and it was determined that he'd broken the rule, then your character(s) will need to go to Diego Morales and Clementine Decourt to have it settled. However, none of the kills officially listed on the Hunger Games kill posts will be changed. They are set in stone. Disputes are merely for roleplaying purposes. Keep this in mind while playing out your scenes!

First blood: Before breakfast even begins, Leo is betrayed by Rafael.

Morning: Sy finally positively identifies Milo and stabs a defenseless kid.

Mid-day: To no one's great surprise, Quinn easily gets rid of Diego. It's probably a little tougher for Veronica to take out Joanna, but she pulls it off.

Evening: Fern closes in on Olivia, but little does she know, she has a stalker of her own. Robin's careful observation pays off as he finally murders Fern.

The last kill: Late in the day, Mercedes offs Kazim and stays in the game!

Fern had spent the week observing Olivia, biding her time, making sure she had a plan. Once she was sure she had the details sorted, she felt like it was time to make her first kill.

She hung around near the trail near camp, leaning against a tree and glowering at anyone who passed by so they didn’t try to stop and chat.

When the time comes, Fern plops herself right down in the dirt, wraps her hands around her ankle, and presses her forehead to her knee.

You know when’s a great time to take out your murder victim? When they’re riding that high from their own first kill. From the branches of a tree just outside camp, Robin has a great vantage point of Fern’s wounded animal routine for Olivia. Taking another bite from his apple (because leaving this tree to get to the cafeteria meant exposing himself to Gooseberry's Bloodthirstiest, and he didn’t need that right now), he slips silently to the ground while the two are talking. Another apple core from earlier hits the dirt beside him at the same time as he did. He doesn’t bother to pick it up. This trail is about to be fucking littered with the corpses of fruit and foxes.

He presses himself up against another tree trunk, mere feet away from his target. With his plastic knife between his teeth, he waits until Fern’s deed was done before striking. "You think darkness is your ally," he hisses in his best (terrible, absolutely terrible) Bane voice. The knife is still in his mouth. His voice is appropriately muffled.

"But you merely adopted the dark," he says, suddenly stepping out of the shadows, the knife out of his mouth and held against her throat from behind. His Bane voice is still terrible. He does not provide context for the half of the quote she missed. "I was born in it."

It's fairly late in the evening when Mercedes finally spots Kazim in the atrium. Thankfully, MURDER doesn't keep a schedule. Being an accomplice yesterday had been really fun and all, but this was it! Her time to strike.

"Hi Kazim," she says cheerfully, plopping down on a couch next to him — just within arm's reach. She leans forward, resting her chin on her hands. "What are you doing? Anything fun?" With anyone else, the beeline may have been suspicious, but frankly, such tactics were well within Mercy's modus operandi anyway. Maybe she won't be able to take down her target, but at least, she can finagle a good conversation. As far as she's concerned, this is win-win.

Oh, sweet blessed Hunger Games Gods, they gave her Quinn. Her new target was Quinn. Only Chris had been more frequently fantasized about when it came to murder. Of course, this was fake murder and not real murder but still, it was pretty cathartic, even if the person she had murdered so far was so not even on her radar.

Penelope was having a hard time wrangling down Quinn somewhere alone. She crept to follow her schedule, see when she did anything alone but bitch was always busy and always with friends. HOW DID BITCH HAVE SO MANY FRIENDS? DIS. BITCH. She was going to make it difficult for Penelope to Fake!Murder her. Penelope slipped behind a staircase as Quinn made her way around...

"You're goin down, Cunningham."

/Dramatics.

Today, the Ribbonfin Ripper stalks his prey. He's careful to make sure Sy never sees him in the same colored hoodie twice, thinking maybe Stoker won't realize it's the same kid watching him all day. Blue for breakfast. Lemon at lunch. Dark green and striped for dinner. Let me tell you, Xavier has gotten really good at this color changing charm. He thinks Mr. C-B might be proud. Not to rain on his parade, but between you and me, if I were Mr. C-B, I'd probably just be a little concerned that it took Xavier three and a half years and murder games to finally master a basic Charms spell.

But I digress, Xavier sneaks around all day, keeping his back to the walls, looking inconspicuous or monkeying around in high places (as though hiding in a tree will do him any good). He never works up the nerve to strike. He's still preoccupied with figuring out how to avoid getting wet willied or tombstoned in the aftermath of his assassination.

This is Sylla's first day without a kill and she is already down on herself after the past few days. She keeps an eye out for her target but isn't spending her time in her other classes making mental maps and scenarios of stalking her kill. Still, she remains on hyper alert of her surroundings because she is still in the game, though she isn't altogether sure if that's her snakey side manifesting itself in her human form. . .

Well, Dimi, you may be a weak-willed man unable to do what has to be done for the good of the school when it really counts, but at least you've made friends this week. Look at you. Social butterfly. Between teaching Mina mancala and skipping stones with Quinn before lunch, Dimi almost forgets that he has a sophomore to stab. He also completely forgets that he has a paper due in Magizoology tomorrow.

Shite. Shite. Shite.

Dimi spends the rest of the evening safe in his cabin, trying desperately to crank out five pages about the migration habits of North American Chimera. Looks like you live to see another day, Hazel.

Unaware of how many times her name has changed hands over the last few days, Pippa wonders if her assassin is trying to make her lower her guard. Well, it's not going to work!!! She's as alert as a -- as a meerkat. And she's got her friends to watch her back!

Pippa does try looking for Dimi over the course of the day, but when he's not in class he's with other people, and in the evening he vanishes altogether. With a sigh, Pippa trots back to her own cabin for some quality snuggle time with Mabel.

Mina found a way to obtain Laurel's class schedule yesterday, and by this point, can reasonably extrapolate Laurel's movements for the rest of the week. (That girl spends a lot of time in the dance studio, which is forbidden to Mina.) It's not weird that Mina did nothing yesterday to murder Laurel. It was a very busy day of classes and clubs and learning mancala, and school takes precedence over Diego's silly games. She doesn't even need the prize.

Mina spends all of dinner today with the Laurel knife stashed in her purse at her side, watching her target (and also glaring at anyone who dares walk too close to her table—not today, Death!). UGH, it's annoying how popular Laurel is. She's ALWAYS surrounded by people. And that's not SURPRISING considering how she's pretty and nice and talented and very pretty—

Day 4: In an effort to remain unpredictable, Levi stayed in his cabin until exactly 16 minutes into the start of lunch and sprinted toward Herbology, where he ducked beneath a table and silently ate leftovers from yesterday's lunch out of his pencil case while wild eyes scanned the entrance, watching for feet.

He felt like those kids hiding from the velociraptors in Jurrasic Park.

Only when he saw the pant legs and shoes of Hightower did he emerge from his hiding spot. He took the seat closest to his teacher, continuously asking engaging questions about the content of the lesson so that Hightower would look at him and grant him immunity.

In OE, he stuck close to Thorn and asked to use the weight room after class so that he could follow him back to the lodge in safety. While the weight room was free of Tributes, Levi seemed content to work out until [Surviving Tribute] entered and he immediately beelined toward the showers where he remained until exactly 6:27 PM before finally going to dinner.

He skipped drama club and made Cecil guard him with his Giant Shoulders until he made it safely back to the cabin.

SO, yesterday was my last day of actively manipulating RNG to get you guys your cute scenarios and matchups. I also tried to make sure every player (not character, sorry!) got at least one kill, even when RNG was being uncooperative. Sorry if some of our resident badasses got a little neutered by RNG. I still think you're cool. :(

What this means is everything that happened today and everything that'll happen for the rest of the game will be just RNG. The only exception will be the final round to determine the ultimate winner. Activity, strategy, or just being funny IC will give your character bonuses to take home the grand prize.
