MOVIE NIGHT

Susana Velasquez arranges for a movie night party in the lodge, because they just had something very special mailed to them: an R-rated movie. Susana pops Eyes Wide Shut into the DVD player, and the group settles in for a fun night. All’s going well until Ms. Vector walks in at the worst moment, just as the movie features a gratuitous scene with lots of full frontal nudity.

Someone shouts “RUN!” and students scatter to evade getting in trouble. Cole Moss and Calvin Evercreech end up hiding in a closet together.

The one casualty is the Eyes Wide Shut disc, which was not a questionable sequel, and therefore was mysteriously broken in half by the DVD player.

WHAT'S GOING TO HAPPEN

Despite the sophomores being adorably cliquish, this event is open to everyone.

The lodge is sparsely populated by staff this Friday evening, as the teachers are having a staff meeting.

A little over halfway through the movie, just as a particularly inappropriate scene comes on, Ms. Vector walks in on the viewing party.

Do you run, or do you stay and get lectured? There are no consequences for either decision as long as you're respectful to Coppertale's Head of House.

» watching the movie: Shh, it's starting!

» elsewhere in the lodge: Since there are so few teachers around, is there anything else you rascals are up to? Classrooms and club rooms are all still locked, though.

» run!!!: ... Or don't. Ms. Vector is certainly scandalized to have walked in on such a racy scene, but the most the caught students will get is a lecture on propriety.

	Diego turns his back to Ravi as they reach the door, and looks coyly over his shoulder. "You don't have to come in if you don't want," he suggests innocently. "As it so happens, I did see people setting up for a movie upstairs. That strikes me as an exciting use of a Saturday night." He's still following Diego into the weight room. Coyness only takes you so far.

Ravi doesn't go here often—or at all, really. He's visited the weight room more times in the past two weeks than in his past three years combined, and it's only to meet up with Diego after his workouts. Ravi turns to face him again.

"But if you're not interested in back-to-back poorly-made sequels, lock the door and we can discuss other options."

Diego ducks his head and lets out a breathy laugh. He can't keep up with the cute, dry teasing Ravi loves to do. Ravi can flirt and never crack a smile (at least until Diego says the right thing, that is).

Of course he locks the door.

"Let's discuss," he says, doing his best to mimic Ravi's proper and controlled tone. Diego can manage this in short bursts. He closes the distance between them with a mind to do something with his mouth that's definitely not talking...

But then he remembers, and stops barely inches away from Ravi. Waiting is hard, but the anticipation is exciting. "What do you want to do?"

Ravi raises his eyebrows when Diego stops. The closer Diego stands to him, the more careful Ravi's expression becomes, so that anyone who doesn't know him well might think that Ravi has nothing but the most banal thoughts about being in a locked room, alone, with a handsome boy. He unfolds his arms, slowly, and grabs Diego for a kiss.

His hands find Diego's shoulders and push, forcing Diego to retreat until his back hits the door with enough force for an audible thud. Ravi doesn't hesitate to press in close, kissing him long enough that when Ravi finally stops, it's with breathless laughter.

"Sorry." Ravi ducks his head as he smooths out Diego's shirt with his palms. "I've been wanting to do that all day."

"Me too," Diego agrees. With his arms around Ravi's waist, he can pull him in close. Instead of going in for another whirlwind kiss, though, he bends his neck and rests his head on Ravi's shoulder. Despite insinuations of what kind of wild teen activities would be going on in the weight room, this hug alone is good. He's been worried (surprise), but the warmth of another person begins to soothe that. Diego exhales against Ravi's neck, although his buttoned collar probably shields it from Diego's breath.

"It's a long weekend, we should go horseback riding or something," he mumbles into Ravi's sweater.

"Alright," Ravi answers readily. "Tomorrow, after the game? Matches are usually ninety minutes or so, so we'll have a few hours before dinner."

He's surprised that Diego doesn't want to keep just making out, but maybe he shouldn't be. They've both been so busy lately that it's a relief when they can get a chance to slow down and relax. It feels as though Ravi hasn't really had the chance to talk to Diego since cheer tryouts. In fact...

"Hey." Ravi is careful not to jostle Diego's head from his shoulder as he moves a hand to touch his face, idly brushing his thumb against Diego's cheekbone. "Is everything okay?"

Three things come to Diego's mind immediately.

Do all of your friends hate me? (A sub-category of the worry Does Everyone Think I'm Annoying?)
Should I talk to Tabitha? I don't want her to blame you.
I'm worried about Cecil

Option three feels safest, and it's also the freshest. Diego groans sadly into Ravi's shoulder.

"Cecil and Levi got into a... not really a fight? I don't know." Diego won't share the details, but it feels safe to mention something happened. Everyone at cheer tryouts could probably tell. Everyone read Ariadne Flint's journal entry. It doesn't take a school of geniuses to put it together. "I'm just worried about Cecil after everything that happened."
