UNSANCTIONED CAMPING

This is almost certainly a bad idea, but when faced with the arrival of family members the next day, who doesn't need to relieve a little stress? After curfew, some students slip out to the wooded area between Azurcrest and the sorting cave. There's a scattering of tents, and in the middle a campfire blazes.

The mood isn't as wild as a Grotto party, and most of the entertainment is found in sitting, talking, and drinking. Alcohol is available in reasonable amounts, enough for everyone to have a drink or two (or three if you really need it).

» Around the fire: The forest doesn't have the same warming effect as the Grotto, but it feels very... normal? Just woods and trees and the hoot of an owl. Are you relieved, or do you feel lonely?

» BERTIE BOTT'S EVERY FLAVOUR BEANS: Someone got their hands on a family sized bag of these imported sweets. At first, it's just taken to be candy, but as the truth about these jelly beans is fully understood, it becomes a spectacle.

There's a group of students sitting in a circle, passing the bag around. The idea is that you take one, and then everyone waits in anticipation for your reaction. (Let's be real, they're all hoping you get earwax or cigarette ash.) You must then guess what it is before passing the bag to the left.

In game terms, this means reply to the root comment, and we will use RNG to pick out a flavor for you. You can then write your character's reaction and attempt to identify what they just put in their mouth.

Official results for your random flavor could come from Diego (morale), Sy (stokers), or the mod journal (goosemods).

» The Tents: The magically warmed tents make another appearance. They're filled with pillows and blankets and should be pleasant to sleep in.

» The Morning: In the early hours of the morning, students (hopefully) begin to sneak back to their campgrounds, and (maybe) avoid the eyes of vigilant prefects.

» Did you get in trouble?: If you did, reply here. The punishment will be two nights of detention starting Monday, and a loss of 10 house points per student. Visiting parents will also find out about the indiscretion.

Diego's in the throes of one of his self-destructive immediate gratification moods, which means he's especially fun. He's very interested in everyone, wants to talk talk talk, and he's more flirtatious than he's been in months. Ravi's still in the back of his mind, but if he gets drunk and hooks up with someone, that'll definitely distract him from his heartbreak, right???

After all the warnings to be careful, Diego's making attempts to keep track of who's here. He can periodically be seen scribbling names in a journal. He's already afraid he's missed people, and some time he could be having fun is wasted anxiously rechecking his list when he sees someone and doesn't trust that he's already written them down.

Ennis is always happy to see Diego, Most Popular and Coolest Boy In School and Leader of the Cool Indie Band, but with a few drinks in him he's PUMPED compared to the shy wave Diego first received when Ennis arrived. "Diego," he repeats, rising from his seat to amble toward him. "I didn't get to tell you because you looked busy that night but-- I just wanted to say-- I thought your performances were the best? I cried."

Fairly, Ennis cries over everything and anything with Zoey and Diego in it is automatically The Best in his books.

Addy actually was considering NOT attending this. But after talking to Diego the other day, she's still worried about him. And figures few to zero prefects will be here so she should show and play at being Responsible so that other people can relax. So she's here! Addy doesn't drink much tonight but is still very talky and social/warm at pretty much everyone. So much talking! She is also fascinated by these beans!

She tries to keep the area clean as the night goes on and if she sees anyone who is obviously too drunk or doing something reckless or wandering into the woods alone,she will very gently tell them to cease and desist. She will share a tent with whoever lets her platonically cuddle all night? But she will leave suuuper early the next morning so as not to get caught. She can't get in trouble for actually trying to be good right? (We will see I have not yet decided.)

Sy needs a fuckin' break, which means as soon as he's able to do it without getting caught, he's sneaking out of Reid's window, with Reid and a half-full bottle of whiskey in tow. And his flask, which he's keeping to himself after throwing the bottle into Morales' party stash. Sy hasn't gotten properly drunk in over a week, and that's his one goal tonight.

He's been a tense and cranky storm cloud lately, even during Quidditch practices. Especially during Quidditch practices. Tonight, he seems a little more like himself, and will be chatting with people and hanging out and not trying to fight anyone since he needs to get to tomorrow without any bruises. (Reid, help him out here.) This is Sy being downright friendly tonight. What could go wrong? Nothing could go wrong! He just wants a break.

Reid is only here because of Sy. Where Sy is more relaxed than normal, Reid is more tense, although maybe it's hard to tell. He made some vague promises to get Sy back home and keep him from getting in trouble, and it feels like a lot of pressure. (Did he remember to say those promises out loud? He's not sure.) For most of the night, he sits with Sy, but remains very low maintenance.

Sy's the only reason Reid didn't flunk out last year, and the only reason that his grades have maintained a C-average this year. He's serious about returning the favor. This is possibly the most proactive he's been in months, aside from looming Quidditch tryouts.

He kicks Sy's foot. "Having fun?"

Clem's a little late to the party, but eventually she manages to give her prefect the slip. When she does show up, she comes with a bottle of Bourbon, which she's drinking straight out of the bottle, because it is that kind of night.

"Hey," she says as she plops down right next to Sy. She hefts the bottle up for inspection. "This is... super gross, and I hate it. Why do we drink this?"

Rosy is not here to ruin the party for everyone. Biggest Buzzkill in School is not a title she feels like claiming right now. She’ll settle for Biggest Buzzkill in Ribbonfin, though, because she is here to ruin the party for any unfortunate roommate of hers that thought they could sneak past her. Come on guy(s), she hasn’t gone to sleep before 3:00 AM all week, you really think she didn’t hear you slip out and never return? You really think she didn’t already hear about this stupid camping party from a certain freshman (it's Braydyn, it's obviously Braydyn) who might not be everyone’s favorite but sure as hell knows the right people to suck up to?

So Rosy finds her way to the illegal camping trip thanks to a tip from her new favorite snitch, determined to take anyone under her supervision and drag them back to their campsite, because the day her parents come to school is not the day they also find any of her girls half-eaten by bears or ghosts or ghost bears in the woods.

But the Ribbonfin junior girls might be in luck today. Or they’re just reaping the benefits of someone else’s bad luck. Because Rosy finds the fire and the tents and the group of kids shoving mystery candy in their mouths, and before she sees a single one of her girls, she spots someone she honestly should have expected, but who she really didn’t expect to see there. Someone big, dumb, and related to her.

And the look on her face goes from annoyed to deadly. The grinding of her teeth can probably be heard over the laughter of the others gathered around the campfire. If these two have any kind of weirdo twin senses at all, Sy can probably feel some amorphous ball of anger coming in his direction. If he’s smart, he’ll take cover. ... Sy is rarely smart.

“Sylvester Orfeo Stoker,” Rosy hisses at the back of his head, in a voice that is eerily similar to their mother’s. “What the fuck?”

Chris entirely came to get drunk and he might as well because it's not like he was gonna be able to sleep anyway. Chris is the picture of relaxed despite the stress of the week. He brought some pot and he's willing to share but since this isn't a prefect sanctioned, there's no point in going deeper in the woods to get high.

He's willing to talk and joke with just about anyone. For once he doesn't actually look grumpy. But he's definitely fixed on getting drunk.

Diego sees Casey, and immediately thinks about their conversation on the journals the other day... as well as bits and pieces of a considerably not sober (but still enjoyable) make out session some months ago. Casey's gorgeous, and, well, he knows it. So does everyone else for that matter, what with how often Casey ditches his shirt. But that's not a deal killer by any means. And he'd been considerate at the Grotto party.

Diego runs through a messy pros and cons list, even as he walks up to Casey with two drinks. He touches one to Casey's arm, ready with a smile when the other boy turns to face him. The pros won. They always do.

"Hey, you made it," he says, genuinely pleased.

Despite enrolling at camp school, Casey is... not exactly a fan of camping. He prefers his creature comforts, like central heating and not having to worry about slipping on hidden ice, or falling into a snowbank. He does, however, enjoy parties — especially the unauthorized ones. Tonight the second outweighs the first, if only marginally so.

He's squinting into the woods and wondering how much warmth it takes mosquitoes to come out of hibernation (and where do they even hibernate?? in trees? underground? in caves, like bears?!) when he feels the bump against his arm and looks over. It's Diego! And a drink! That's awesome! "Sick, man, thanks!" He picks it up and raises it in a mini cheers with a smile for Diego before taking a drink. No, he doesn't sniff it first; he's not a sophisticated partier. "And yeah, a camping party's still a party, though I dunno if it's that's true without the music and games 'n shit."

... For a while. She chills by the fire in a large blanket, as is her style, sipping firewhiskey. Her behavior alternates between totally pensive and in her own head and kind of snarky and giggly. It's like her but not like her.

Eventually she gets a little too tipsy and staggers off toward the tents for a "break," and never quite makes it back, but until then you can come at her if you wishhh.

	homaigawd Zoey-senpai......... Ennis admires Zoey and there's a bit of monkey-see-monkey-do going on as he also grabs a blanket to huddle by the fire next to her with his solo cup of vodka. Shows up ... kind of late? Looks a little like she's been running around in the woods, frankly: red cheeks, messy hair, eyes bright with excitement.

She's a little trembly and slap-happy and is greeting people with this shakily happy thing going on -- not unlike a tiny dog -- but simultaneously not straying far from Ivy's side. She glances at her twin occasionally with this strange, semi-incredulous look, like something happened / should we tell it to someone? but is generally occupied by chattering at people and snuggling. - Unfold

Ivy goes about normal party business for a little while cause she's gotta unwind before her family gets here, but it's clear she's kind of rattled. In a different way than Laurel - she seems genuinely spooked, and jumps at any little noises coming from the forest. After making the socializing rounds she hooks arms with Laurel and tugs her towards the campfire.

"Should we tell everyone?" she asks in a hushed voice. "Campfires are for telling ghost stories, right?"

Etta would never pass up a party, and party + camping = twice the fun! She has a couple of drinks, and is playful and flirtatious throughout the night. (She's hoping to end up in one of the tents with someone who is also up for sexyfuntimes, because why should Quinn have all the fun tonight?)

Etta notices the cold more than she usually does, although she's not sure if that's down to not drinking as much, or because they're not at the Grotto. But hey, any excuse for snuggles, right?

To the shock of likely everyone who knows her, Saira showed up. A little late, and looking like she'll murder anyone who comments on it, but here she is.

She's having a crisis about having to see her stupid annoying family tomorrow, but she also doesn't want to talk about THAT.

She finds a seat by the fire (possibly glaring others out of the way if she has to,) and prepares to actually experience what a clandestine Gooseberry party is like. She expects it to be full of imbecilic behavior that she can be snarky about.

Chloe sees Rosy coming out of the corner of her eye and immediately hunches her shoulders and makes herself as small as possible. Maybe that works, or maybe Rosy just had other targets, because she makes a beeline for Sy.

"We gotta hide!" Chloe whispers to Kurt. She tries to signal to any of her other fellow junior fins who may be nearby too. "C'mon," she says, grabbing Kurt's elbow and trying to flee-but-not-run.

Isaiah wasn't planning on coming. He truly wasn't. He's been to a number of parties already this year, and at this rate he's going to ruin his reputation as a loner.

And then Jay had asked him if he was going, and said that he was.

And the thing is, Jacob is very, very cute. Among other things.

So despite his best intentions, Isaiah finds himself heading to the camp out and kind of...hanging around, not quite within the light of the campfire but not quite far enough away from it to be skulking (thank you very much,) just trying to see who's around.

He's very subtle, is Isaiah.
