SENIOR MONTHLY BONDING: January

SENIOR BONDING

January’s senior monthly bonding is being hosted by a very (very, very) reluctant Mr. Chettri. He’s smiling, but there’s something behind his eyes that suggests that this is his nightmare.

He’s reserved the atrium, which has been filled with small tables and chairs. Students are assigned a partner, and are asked to sit at a table together. There are pastries, coffee and tea available if you want them. (Vegan options are offered.) You’re also provided with a piece of paper. The goal of the game is to sit and talk quietly so he doesn’t have to, and try to find as many things as possible that you and the other person have in common.

THE RULES
  • Your characters have an hour and a half.
  • They must write down every item that the two of them have in common.
  • These things must be discovered by playing out the scene to qualify for a win.
    • Clarification: This means that you must roleplay the discussion and discovery of items in order to have them be counted. Simply listing them without your characters talking out their similarities will not count. This event is meant to reward a pair who plays out a scene with a lot of dialogue.
  • If you come up with something that breaks the game, Mr. Chettri will be amused but he’ll discount your inflated numbers. (For instance, saying you have 206 bones in common.) This is about getting to know one another, not trying to outsmart your teacher.
    • Clarification: Any time a category of very similar things (friends in common, classes in common, hookups in common) exceeds 4, Chettri is going to count them as one single item when we calculate the winners.
  • You have until 11:59 PM, Sunday Jan 8, after which we’ll count up how many things each pair came up with.
  • The winners will receive a pair of old little drawstring pouches, which are revealed to be bottomless. They can fit any number of (nonliving) items inside of them, assuming what you put inside can fit through the 5” opening.
  • Edit: There will be a hidden RNG element during final selection.

The senior pairings are as follows:

Magdalen & Jeremiah
Irene & Anuhea
Cressida & Ivy
Nathaniel & Wesley
Leonardo & Ty
Tabitha & Jesse
Zoey & Isaiah Levi & Beatrix Theresa & Dahlia
Rafael & Wilhelmina Ravinder & Cecil Asher & Robin
Quinn & Penelope Henrietta & Christopher Laurel & Ryan
Diego & Marilyn*

* As the assignments are handed out, Mr. Chettri realizes the numbers have come up odd. Someone must be out sick. This doesn’t immediately worry him, as he figures he can sit with the spare student and do the activity with them. Mr. Chettri is imagining one of the shy, introverted students, or perhaps one of his Divination prodigies. That would be nice. But when he looks up from his papers to see who’s standing alone, he immediately recognizes Cecil’s extremely chatty best friend with the glasses, Diego Morales. Oh no. This is not happening. In desperation, Mr. Chettri grabs Marilyn, and before they know it they’ve joined Senior Bonding!

Levi begins bouncing up and down in his seat, shouting out overlapping answers as if they're on a game show with 10 seconds left on the clock and not... a bonding activity with at least thirty minutes to spare. "I GOT MY HAIR CUT-- I'VE BROKEN-- I'VE NEVER BEEN ON AN A-- MY PARENTS HAVE VOW--" Instead of bouncing, he realizes he needs to start writing and he stands up, resting a foot in the seat of his chair as he FURIOUSLY SCRIBBLES THIS ALL DOWN. "I haven't seen that many movies but I'VE WATCHED A LOT OF DISNEY MOVIES-- I'M WRITING IT DOWN--"

He counts them quickly, smearing the ink on the first letter of each line as he trails his fingers along the list. "One hundred and four!!" he declares, waving the paper around wildly. He's Charlie and he's just unwrapped the Golden Ticket to enter Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory. "-- But we can do more." Thank fuck he was placed in Azurcrest instead of Coppertale or he'd be this competitive all the time. He slams the paper back down and continues writing, "Remember that one time we got our hair braided into cornrows before it was considered Cultural Appropriation? And we've ripped tags off mattresses. And we've gotten samples at the grocery store and pretended to be different kids to get more samples."

"One hundred and four bitches!" Trixie yells along with Levi. "We like to be loud have we said that one yet?" Is this list getting way, way, way out of hand? Trixie looks around again at the rest of the room appearing to write quietly and normally when they could be having as much fun as Levi and her. Losers. "Our hair looked fantastic and whatever, we looked good it wasn't like we were trying to be all rude with the cornrows. We were trying to look good." They didn't look good, it looked horrible but whatever they didn't care. "I love Disney movies. I want to be one of the Disney villains. One that wins." Trixie didn't know of any that actually one but someone had to not have died a horrible way.

"We both wore false mustaches, we have those really big sombreros from some stupid tourist place near the border and we have our names on them. I have touched a donkey more than twice." Well, they sure felt bonded now.

Levi nods along, writing it all down. "One-fifteen now. I'm hitting up the universal gross ones that everyone else is too cowardly to discuss so stop me when I get to an untruth-- We get satisfaction in picking our noses. We totally inspect our boogers. We've farted next to someone in a crowd and walked away-- cropdusting. We've taken satisfaction in smelling our own farts. We've found satisfaction in drinking so much water, our pee is clear. We've left our clear pee in the toilet for the next person. We've defecated in the woods. We've peed in the lake. We've picked leeches off our skin after swimming in the lake."

"Well yeah obviously. Those are just a given." Trixie had no worries about this, she was pretty open about all of this shit. Nodding along she laughed about leeches. "Shit you should see some of the leech marks I've gotten before. Apparently if you eat enough citrus, things really like to eat your blood. One day we are totally going to go back to leeching people to fix medical problems." Did they do it on the compound, well maybe they did. That place was crazy but amazing. "I have lost the remote for the television a shit ton. I like Adult Swim mostly except for like whatever that like 12oz mouse or something. Oh that one really sucks and the weird one that looks like a fucked up computer game."
