Personal statements are pointless. Does anyone care if they're actually meaningful? Does anyone even read them? The answer to both questions is No, probably not. I could make up the entire thing and nobody would know. "I want to be a Healer because my older brother was eaten by a Crup and his entrails looked really cool." "My first word was 'scalpel' because I was performing my first open-heart surgery at 16 months." "My dream is actually to stock boxes at Costco but I thought I'd try being a Healer first. It sounds like a cinch. lol."

In other news, who's going to Carney's New Year's party? Who's not? I'm trying to decide if my "those of you I want to see" list is going to outweigh my "those of you I don't want to see" list.

[...] My mother teaches at No-Maj medical school, and she gave me a lot of advice which essentially boiled down to "keep it simple, don't overdo it." But I'm not sure that actually applies when you're dealing with being able to mend broken bones with a wave of your wand, or brewing potions which cure the common cold but makes hot steam shoot out of your ears.

	Exactly! It makes no sense. They should either let us skip the letters entirely or make us write novellas. 	Yeaaaaah. And, as far as I know? Nada. But maybe someone will surprise me. I haven't decided yet. Maybe I'll just lock them in a closet with me for seven minutes and see what happens. It is a proven technique, after all.
