Hey Casper,

Merry Christmas! I hope you're having a good one. Normally I'd just harass you on the journals of course, but my mom decided that this year we had to make cookies together as though it were some kind of important tradition (it's not) - I figured I'd send you some of my charming gingerbread people. There are way too many here. Like, we made 3 batches. It's a disaster.

Anyways, I miss you (yes, even though it hasn't been long). We should plan something fun to do for summer after I graduate as a last hoorah, yeah?

Dear Asher,

This was a very considerate gesture but, unfortunately, Casper isn't here to receive your letter or your gift. The situation here changed shortly before the break began and he needed to spend the holiday at school. I don't know if this was merely a mistake or if he didn't tell you, but if you'd still like to contact him that's where he will be. You should find the gingerbread cookies (as well as your original letter) returned to you along with this letter; I'm certain it would mean a great deal to him to hear from you.

I apologize for my brevity, but there are matters that require my attention and I need to return to them. But, as always, thank you for being such a good friend to my nephew and I hope you're well.
