roxie barringer doesn't turn on the red light ([info]tightwire) wrote in [info]gooseberry,

Before I even say anything, I would like to point out that the mistletoe was not there when I climbed up here in the first place. I checked.

And that I have three days of shows to do next week when I get home - so I really did need to practice.

But the end result is the same: I'm stuck in a tree. Please help me down.

I can do that.

Which tree.

Not too far from the Lodge.

I wasn't even planning on being up here that long.

I can climb on shit too.

If I have a ladder.

I walk on a small rope at least two shows a day at home. The tree isn't going to kill me.

It better fuckin not. If you make me train another Beater and Chaser I'm gonna dig your corpses back up just to set you on goddamn fire.

I know a net charm. Even if we fall. Hypothetically. We'll be fine.

I don't like using it, as it's vastly unprofessional. But I know one.

That's kind of rad.

It's spawning.

I'm both impressed and hungry.

Hungry because it's dinnertime. Not hungry to eat poisonous foliage.

I prefer honesty.

But I also enjoy elaborate storytelling.

Is there always a difference between telling the truth and telling a story?

Nah. But some people seem to think it stretches your credibility.

I'd hope so. I feel like we take poetic license in everything we do.

To be fully obnoxious: what isn't a metaphor?

A simile.

Maybe this can be my senior project.

A simile is like a metaphor is like a simile: insert title projecting false importance and gravity of my studies here

You can write the same paragraph in a different order for twenty pages. Like a literary Escher staircase.

And if you make it all the way to the end, there's a brief discussion about existential nihilism. Also a glitter explosion. As metaphor.

Of course. Everyone loves some existential nihilism. Especially with a bit of a glittery pick-me-up.

It's the small things (that distract from the endless void).

Hey! How is my favourite carnie on the planet?
Hopefully unstuck by now. I would have come found you but I got stuck when I turned around.

Unstuck, fed, and watered, sir.

And yourself? Still in mortal peril?

Luckily, people have been pretty quick on getting to those in peril. I've taken to making snowmen every time I get stuck somewhere. So if you see them, they're from me.

Like little kissing monuments.

Honestly, I'm just playing around in the gardens now. Fun fact: If you can walk on your hands, you don't get stuck.

Oooh, smart. Can't entangle feet if you're on your hands. I need to try that. It would be amazing to get multiple people to do it, though there would be a lot of falling over.

Oh! I had a question for you! I almost forgot... and might have tried a handstand or two.

Right, so that was a pretty amazing gift you gave my boy, Reece. Where did you get that?

And how'd they go?

I asked my Opa for it. Well, I asked him for a box. He took it from there.

Managed the second one without falling.

That is amazing. Your Opa does great work. Were you just annoyed with his awesome bugs or because he's cute?

Very nice!

He's very good with his gears, yes. And I just figured Reece would prefer somewhere to keep them. So they don't escape on him again. Did someone find them annoying? They weren't annoying at all. Khepri was very cute.

LOL. I see you've battled before. I love those bugs personally. The box was a great idea. I know he adores it as if it was a gift from the heavens.

They're very well made. And they have such personality! The work is all neat and precise - and you know how terrible I am at fiddly little things.

And I'm glad to hear it. I just hope that it's useful.
