A challenge has been put out: Coppertale calls all houses to their home turf, for a brutal snowball fight to determine who’s the best house in Gooseberry. Even with the smooching sickness ravaging their ranks, Coppertale has been hard at work since Saturday digging trenches and building fortifications in the field behind their campground. They’re ready for this.
In the afternoon, students start trickling into the field for the 2 PM showdown. Every fighter is given a long piece of cloth in their house colour, to tie around their arm (or otherwise display in some obvious manner) to show their team allegiance. Snow forts for each house have been designated (in the north, east, west and south of the battleground), where fighters can regroup behind their defenses and build more ammunition. Each fort also prominently displays their flag (a Quidditch team pennant), which other houses will attempt to steal to claim victory. Last house standing is the winner.
SNOWBALL FIGHT RULES
Every fighter must display their house colour at all times, for easy identification.
Each house must leave their flag to be prominently displayed on top of their snow fort. Other houses must be able to tell at a glance where your flag is.
Once a flag is stolen, it can be taken back so long as it’s still on the battleground. Once a flag has been taken back to an enemy fort, the losing house is eliminated from the fight.
Fighters can only fight with snow. This means: no punching, kicking or other forms of bodily contact; no rocks or ice in snowballs; no attacks of any kind that aren’t snowballs. Bodily contact is allowed when taking back a flag, but prefects have the authority to eliminate any player who gets too violent.
The use of traps is permitted to defend forts, but must only use snow. This means: no glitter, no sticky bullshit, and nothing that might cause injury to other students (e.g. snowball cannons). If a trap is deemed too extreme, it must be dismantled and the person who laid it may be eliminated from the fight.
How is the winner calculated? When a participating character posts to their house’s fort, a mod will RNG a score between 1–50 for each character. (Characters affected by Fervor Fever may still play, but their score will be reduced by 10 points as a handicap.) A house’s score is the total score of all their participating members, and the highest house score wins. You have until 11:59 PM MT on Monday, November 14 to post to your fort and have your character be counted.
» Pre-game: The battle starts at 2 PM on the dot. Are you there early, reinforcing your battlements and building snowballs?
» Ebonhide: The Bear Cave: Get out of the library and into the snow! There’s no house who can match the bears for PASSION AND INTENSITY.
» Ribbonfin: The Trout Dugout: Even the least aggressive house in Gooseberry needs to make a showing! TEAMWORK, FISHIES.
» Azurcrest: The Bird’s Nest: Who’s the best at games? BLUE JAYS ARE. THIS IS GOING TO BE SO. MUCH. FUN.
» Coppertale: The Foxhole: Everyone else is going to die, because we are going to kill them.
» Battleground: Between each snow fort is flat open ground. No trees, no cover—just snow. Gather up some snowballs and start running.
» Sidelines: There’s not really a safe place around here, but if you stay far enough on the sidelines, you can spectate and avoid getting pelted by snow.
