Katie was incredibly easy to talk to, and that surprised Roger a bit. He'd expected to have to wheedle and cajole conversation out of her, just like he had to get this date to begin with. Maybe it was the alcohol, which was loosening him up as well, but it seemed like she was enjoying herself. Good, because he most certainly was.
Dinner was fabulous. Roger had his steak medium well - slightly pink in the center. He'd down two mugs of ale before dinner was over, and was starting a third when the server inquired about dessert. He tilted his head at Katie. "In the mood for something sweet or perhaps a bit richer? I think the chocolate pudding's made with a dark chocolate center. It's quite good I've heard."
He grinned and leaned forward. "If you prefer we could just continue with a more liquid dessert." He lifted his mug suggestively. His speech was much more relaxed as well now, a clear sign that the alcohol was running merrily through his system.
