It was all beginning to return to him with the soft sound of her voice, the sweet smelling closeness of her. Nate hadn't been a popular boy. Friendly yes, but he wasn't an athlete or good with the girls like some of his mates. The few dates he'd had in school were fairly innocent. Ending his little episode with Sophia years ago with the loss of house points and chiding by Professor Snape certainly marked it as one of the more memorable experiences from school. Nothing ever came of it and it was something the thought about when he was eventually sent away by his father.
Now they were older and while he noticed the soft blush in her cheeks as well, he merely assumed it was from the compliment and no real interest in him. After all, she was lovely and smart with a job at the Ministry. Likely she had plenty of men who pursued her who were more brave and successful than he was. Still he would enjoy this while it lasted. He'd be a fool to do otherwise.
The song was coming to an end and Nathaniel dipped her easily. He smiled warmly at her as she straightened. "Thank you for the dance. Hopefully I'll see you again." He brought her hand to his lips and kissed it briefly.
